2) When Installing I get the error: 16 bit Windows Subsystem AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

The error message "16 bit Windows Subsystem: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application" is related to a file missing in Windows' System32 folder. In most cases it is caused by installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 as it removes certain files that are vital to the installation of many games. We have a possible fix for this problem however. The first step you would need to take would be to click on the start menu and select Search for all Files and Folders. In the search field type in: autoexec.nt

When the search finishes, you will likely only see one file located in C:\Windows\repair. Right click on this file and select copy, and then close the search window. (If you see multiple autoexec.nt files located in the windows\repair folder copy them all at once by highlighting them before clicking copy) Once back on the desktop, double click on My Computer, then double click on C: or Local Disk C:, then double click on the Windows folder, and lastly double click on the System32 folder. Once inside of the System32 folder, right click in the blank space in the folder and click paste. Once the Autoexec.net file finishes copying into the System32 folder close all of the windows and restart the computer.

If you still have issues installing the game after following these steps you will need to visit http://www.microsoft.com and search the knowledge base for further fixes or contact Microsoft as this is a problem with the operating system not recognizing certain types of installation file types and we have no further information on the subject.

4) My CD-KEY is not recognized when I install the game!

If the CD-KEY is not accepted when installing Delta Force 2 from the DF- Trilogy product, use the following installation codes:

Delta Force 2: J5V3-R9P8-ZHR9-WE53-XSDH

Please keep this keycodes with your product in case you re-install the game in the future.

IMPORTANT: WHEN PROMPTED FOR A CD-KEY WHEN REGISTERING ON NOVAWORLD, USE THE ORIGINAL CD-KEY THAT CAME WITH THE PRODUCT.

5) Why am I receiving a SYSDUMP.TXT error in the game?

SYSDUMPs are generated by the game when the game tells Windows (using DirectX) to perform a function. Windows then instructs the hardware (using the hardware\'s drivers) to generate the image or sound. If for any reason there is confusion in the process, you receive a sysdump.

We have also found that Athlon and Duron motherboards with VIA and AMD chipsets are much more sensitive to proper driver installation than any other configuration. Be sure to update all of the following to the most recent available from each manufacturer:

- The latest BIOS for your particular motherboard

- The latest Chipset drivers for your motherboard, including the latest AGP Miniport driver

- The most recent video card and soundcard drivers for your system

Make sure that no anti-virus software is running in Windows when you play the game (especially Norton Anti-Virus). These programs conflict with the normal processes of the game and may be the source of your system crashes.

6) Why can't I update my game?

If you cannot use the Update Game option on the main menu of the game first check with your Internet Provider to find out if you can connect to an ftp server. All of our in-game update servers are ftp domain servers.

You may need to upgrade your game to the most recent available version in order to see and play on all games available on Novaworld.

Either use the built-in update utility or try downloading the patch for your particular game directly from our website at www.novalogic.com. This will ensure a complete and accurate update to your game.

Contact you ISP & ask them if they are using Page Caching on their server. If they are, have them add this address to their BYPASS LIST: http://novaworld.net for the Novaworld games.

Page Cache takes a copy of our Novaworld game page. And when you connect you go to that copy page. Problem is the Page Cache page does not update as often as the Novaworld pages. So as the Novaworld & Public games pages refresh, adding and subtracting games, your ISP page stays as you first see it.

7) Why can't my mission editor work with Windows 2000 or XP?

If your computer is running either Windows 2k or XP, you will not be able to run the Mission Editor. Windows 2000 & XP do not like to run compressed executables. And our editor is one. Nothing we can do at this time, we\'d have to release a full update of the editor client, which would be rather huge.

8) How do I create a squadron?

Go to our website and click on "Novaworld" at the top of the page.
Next click on Squadrons. At the bottom of the next page click on: "Create/Join Squads". Then follow the instructions.

9) I am using Windows XP and the fonts at the Novaworld screen are illegible.

The way that Windows XP handles the display of your online fonts is different than any previous Operating System. If you are having difficulty viewing certain fonts on our website or Novaworld while running Windows XP, you will need to change the font to one that can be read clearly.

You will need to adjust the Display settings for Windows XP to clear up the letters on our Novaworld page.
First right click on your Desktop. Then from the context menu that pops up left click on Properties. Then click on the Appearance tab. Now click on the Effects button towards the bottom of the page. Place a check mark on the "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts". And select Standard. Now click on Apply, then on OK.

10) I use a router when connecting to the Internet, why can't I host or connect into the Novaworld games?

DSL/Cable Routers (NAT being Network Address Translation devices like cable/dl routers. Some firewalls act like NAT devices too.) take the IP address given you by your ISP and split it into mutiple addresses on the subnet of your LAN.

To connect to Novaworld each computer joining MUST have its own distinct IP address. This is the address that your ISP gave you and not the one on the subnet of the router.

If you are hosting a game from behind a router you will need to set the outbound port, or trigger and the incoming port the same as the firewall ports for the game.

You can play behind a NAT device. But you CAN NOT have multiple clients behind a single NAT device because of the requirement that each computer connecting must have its on distinct IP address.

You will need to contact the manufacture of the router for assistance on how to accomplish the set up. We do not supply support for the router.

11) What is NetDelay? And does it cause LAG?

The Netdelay command sets a delay on outgoing commands other than your position information. In theory setting it on your client could give you a disadvantage by making all of your commands go through more slowly. A serve and play host could use it to give themselves a slight advantage over other players (by setting a high netdelay on the server), but that's about it. Otherwise it doesn't do anything.

Note that it has nothing to do with "lag" which is internet latency, this is just a delay on outgoing commands.

12) When the map ends and recycles to a new map I receive the message "We Have Lost The Server".

The "WE LOST THE SERVER" message indicates that your computer is running low on available memory resources.

Prior to running the program check to see if there are too many programs running in the background of Windows, which could be using up the much needed resources.
To verify this double click on the System icon in Control Panel. Then click on Performance. Your Computer\'s System Resources shouldn\'t be any lower than 83% to run the game. If the number is lower, then you will need to contact your computer\'s manufacture for assistance on raising this percentage to the requirement by stopping programs that are running in the background of Windows. This should allow you to play the game more smoothly.

13) How do I save the game while I'm in the mission?

Delta Force 2 does not have an in-game save option. You will need to complete the mission before it will be automatically saved by the game.

14) My options for Quick Missions & Campaigns are greyed out.

For some reason, your computer isn't recognizing your CD.

Check the following before playing:

1. Make sure the CD is in the CD rom drive.
2. Check the DF2.CD file in your Delta Force 2 folder. Open the cd file with NotePad. Make sure the letter found in that file corresponds with your CD rom drive letter. If not, simply type in the appropriate letter.
3. a. Go to the Control Panel on windows.
b. Select System.
c. Select Device Manager.
d. Make sure your CD rom drive is visible on this list. If you don't see it, you will need to reinstall your CD rom drive in windows. Check your windows manual for more information on installing hardware in windows.
4. If you have a removable hard disk or Zip drive, your drive letters may be shuffled. Make sure that your CD rom drive letter is the same as it was when you originally installed the game.
